ABB Terra AC 7kW

Overview

The Australian Terra AC W7 family supports 7.4 kW / 32 A single-phase charging and includes tethered Type 2 and socket variants. A 5 m cable is used on the established tethered configuration. Terra AC is rated IP54/IK10 and supports OCPP 1.6, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth, with 4G available on selected variants. ABB's Solar Charging Mode requires a compatible energy meter in the main switchboard to measure net import and export, with the meter communicating directly with the charger over Modbus RS485. Dynamic load management also relies on compatible external energy-meter integration.

Using this charger at home in Australia

On a suitable installation, this charger can provide up to 7.4 kW. Actual charging speed also depends on the vehicle's onboard AC charging limit and the configured site capacity.

Where supported and correctly configured, load management can reduce EV charging power when other household loads increase, helping keep total demand within the configured site limit.

OCPP support allows the charger to communicate with compatible OCPP charging-management platforms. OCPP support by itself does not guarantee integration with a home battery, solar inverter, electricity tariff or every third-party platform.

The manufacturer lists an IP54 enclosure rating for this charger. The final mounting location should follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and be confirmed by the installer.

A dedicated home EV charger should be installed by a licensed electrician. The installer should confirm the circuit design, switchboard capacity, protection requirements and any applicable local electricity-network requirements.
