How we calculated this

Methodology: We calculate charging time by dividing the energy required (kWh) by the effective charging power (kW). Crucially, we determine the effective charging power by taking the lowest of three limits:

  • Your home EV charger's maximum power output.
  • Your specific vehicle's onboard AC charger capacity (pulled from our database).
  • Your home's electrical phase supply limit (single-phase homes in Australia are typically capped at 32A / 230V ≈ 7.4kW).

Data Sources: Vehicle battery and AC charging specifications are sourced from manufacturer data and verified by HomeChargerMatch.
