Fox ESS Fox ESS A Series 22kW

Overview

The Fox ESS A022KP1-E-B is a 22 kW / 32 A three-phase charger operating from a 400 V, 3L/N/PE supply. The tethered version uses a 6 m Type 2 cable and has an IP65 charger body with IK08 impact protection. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, with optional 4G, plus RFID and app-based charging control. Fox ESS documents OCPP 1.6 JSON or OCPP 2.0.1. Dynamic load balancing requires compatible three-phase metering and RS485 communication; Fox documents DTSU666 meter arrangements for 11 kW and 22 kW chargers. Solar PV Linkage requires compatible Fox ESS inverter and meter data and provides Green and Economic charging modes.

  • Installations requiring OCPP connectivity
  • Sites able to install compatible three-phase metering for load management
  • Drivers who want a 6 m tethered Type 2 cable

Not ideal for

  • — Single-phase homes expecting 22 kW charging
  • — Solar households expecting surplus charging without compatible Fox ESS inverter and meter data
  • — Homes expecting dynamic load balancing without compatible three-phase metering
  • — Buyers interpreting ISO 15118 hardware readiness as currently active Australian V2H or V2G

Using this charger at home in Australia

This charger supports higher AC charging speeds where both your home's electrical supply and your EV's onboard AC charger allow. Confirm your home's phase support with a licensed electrician, and check your EV's maximum AC charging capability.

Where the charger and required monitoring equipment support solar-aware charging, the system can adjust EV charging in response to available solar generation. The exact behaviour depends on the charger, metering or sensors, inverter setup and configuration.

Where supported and correctly configured, load management can reduce EV charging power when other household loads increase, helping keep total demand within the configured site limit.

OCPP support allows the charger to communicate with compatible OCPP charging-management platforms. OCPP support by itself does not guarantee integration with a home battery, solar inverter, electricity tariff or every third-party platform.

The manufacturer lists an IP65 enclosure rating for this charger. The final mounting location should follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and be confirmed by the installer.

A dedicated home EV charger should be installed by a licensed electrician. The installer should confirm the circuit design, switchboard capacity, protection requirements and any applicable local electricity-network requirements.
