Growatt THOR

Overview

The Growatt THOR 22AS-P-V1 is a 22 kW / 32 A, 400 V three-phase charger with a fixed 5 m Type 2 cable. It is rated IP65 and supports LAN, Wi-Fi and optional 4G connectivity, app and RFID activation, OCPP 1.6, PV Linkage solar charging and smart load balancing. Growatt documents Type A residual-current protection plus 6 mA DC fault-current detection. PV Linkage adjusts charging around available surplus solar. Growatt states that load balancing monitors incoming household power using a CT or meter so charging can be adjusted around site demand. Current THOR 11/22AS-P/S-V1 documentation specifies an operating range of -25°C to 50°C.

Best for

  • Three-phase homes where the EV can accept higher AC charging rates
  • Solar households wanting PV Linkage surplus charging
  • Sites requiring OCPP 1.6
  • Homes able to install the required CT or meter-based site measurement for load management

Not ideal for

  • — Single-phase homes expecting 22 kW charging
  • — Installations where CT or meter-based site measurement cannot be fitted
  • — Buyers expecting PV Linkage or load balancing to operate without correct system commissioning

Using this charger at home in Australia

This charger supports higher AC charging speeds where both your home's electrical supply and your EV's onboard AC charger allow. Confirm your home's phase support with a licensed electrician, and check your EV's maximum AC charging capability.

Where the charger and required monitoring equipment support solar-aware charging, the system can adjust EV charging in response to available solar generation. The exact behaviour depends on the charger, metering or sensors, inverter setup and configuration.

Where supported and correctly configured, load management can reduce EV charging power when other household loads increase, helping keep total demand within the configured site limit.

The manufacturer lists an IP65 enclosure rating for this charger. The final mounting location should follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and be confirmed by the installer.

A dedicated home EV charger should be installed by a licensed electrician. The installer should confirm the circuit design, switchboard capacity, protection requirements and any applicable local electricity-network requirements.
